My henna journey began at a wedding, when I spent most of the mendhi evening sitting by the pot of henna, with a toothpick! I fell in love with the raw, earthy smell of henna and the custom of applying henna at celebrations.
Henna is becoming ever more popular and especially worn as an everyday accessory. This, together with more awareness around natural and unnatural henna, it is no surprise that more people want to learn how to make henna and see firsthand what goes into it. That’s why so many of you are booking on to my workshops.
So what exactly do you do in the workshop?
First and foremost, every workshop begins with a brief history of henna and safety is discussed, mostly that black henna does not exist and that mass produced cones bought via eBay, Amazon, or even many Indian shops, usually contain chemicals to give an unnatural stain.
Next, you’ll see exactly what’s involved in making the henna, how to mix it into a smooth, silky paste and transfer it into a cone.
Following this, we delve into design creation - everyone’s favourite part! We’ll go through the construction of a design, including key shapes, patterns and finishes too, with some time for you to practice and ask any questions. As with any new skill, practice makes perfect, so you’ll leave with a free practice kit, so you can continue this at home too.
Before we part, I’ll do a design on each of you, and present you with your free aftercare kit too!
What’s makes The Henna Boutique’s workshops so special?
Our workshops are a casual space for everyone to learn, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, I'll be sharing everything I know with you. The personal attention you will receive is second to none. And of course, at each workshop I’ve taught at, I’ve always known it to be a bubbly, light and fun atmosphere!
The workshops are so popular, yet with so few spaces, there are three sessions taking place at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot - the half-day workshop, a Friday evening workshop and Saturday morning workshop - take your pick and book soon!
